Ride the Lightning - Metallica (1984)

Ride the Lightning es el segundo álbum del grupo de thrash metal Metallica.

Como Master of Puppets y ...And Justice for All, Ride the Lightning es parcialmente conceptual; las canciones no narran una historia pero tratan el mismo tema, en este caso la muerte. Por ejemplo, "Fade to Black" es sobre el suicidio, "Fight Fire With Fire" es un comentario acerca de la guerra nuclear, "Ride the Lightning" sobre la silla eléctrica, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" trata sobre la muerte en la guerra y está basada en el libro homónimo de Ernest Hemingway. "Trapped Under Ice" podría ser interpretada como refiriéndose a ahogarse o congelarse y "Creeping Death" detalla la esclavitud de los judíos y las plagas de la Biblia.

Sobre este disco, existen 2 versiones. Un cover azul lanzado en 1985 y un cover verde lanzado en 1984. Antes del lanzamiento, en Francia se vendio por equivocación 10.000 copias con este cover verde. Ahora esta versión es considerada de colección para los fans.
